Seminars and Open Training Days

We have regularly scheduled seminars and open training days. The Kinokawa ryu calendar of events has the exact dates.

Seminars...

Seminars are held on the third Saturday in April, and September.

Although the schedule varies for each seminar, Saturday normally has morning and afternoon Aikido sessions with Dan testing, (if there any tests to perform,) done just after lunch. Sunday tends to be a slightly shorter day of training, and often has a significant amount of weapons training (jo staff, bokken and sometimes Iaido.)

Seminars are open to anyone who wishes to attend, and you may choose to attend one or both days. Preregistering earns you a significant discount off the seminar fees; after the preregistration deadline, the fees are significantly higher. There is an additional discount for Kinokawa ryu Members who preregister. (What's a Kinokawa ryu Member?)

Open Training Days...

Open training days are held on the third Saturday of March, May, August and October.

The dojo opens at 9am on Saturday, warm-ups start at 9:30, and Hanshi Wirth takes over around 10. Training usually runs 4 to 6 hours, broken into hour and a half, or two hour, sessions.

These days give all Kinokawa ryu students a chance to train directly under Hanshi Wirth. If you will be testing at a seminar: You would be wise to attend the open training day before the seminar to ensure you're tuned in for your test.

We'd like to have a vague idea of how many students are coming. Although you are welcome show up unannounced, please try to let us know if you are coming. The dojo simply throws its doors open on these days. Bring everything you need for 4 or more hours of training. The dojo has abundant drinking water, but you should bring your practice weapons, and any snacks or drinks you prefer.
